A race series for road-legal production sports cars manufactured and registered between 01 January 1970 and 31 December 1979.
We have some excellent events arranged for 2018 and the good news is we are back at the Silverstone Classic in July. Although we still have an exciting event in June to announce which will complete the calendar the Club are already planning for a race on the continent in 2019.
The profile of the Championship went up a notch or two in 2017 when Porsche UK decided to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the 928, and we were honoured, in having Richard Attwood compete at most of our events.
From all the firm enquiries we have received it is very likely the grids will grow again in 2018, but we would really like to see more smaller capacity cars, MG Midgets, Triumph Spitfires, Fiat X19s and Lancia Fulvias that were previously popular increase in numbers. Or maybe something a bit alternative, we would love someone to put a gorgeous Alpine Renault A110S or pretty little Ginetta G15 onto our grids.
Our regulations are relatively simple, some minor modifications to engines such as balancing is permitted, but bodyshells must remain standard. For 2018 we will see a little more checking of cars against their VIFs, Although we have no concerns, we will not become complacent.
70s Road Sports is also a perfect Championship for novices (competitors with no previous racing or karting experience) we have experienced racers, qualified instructors, excellent driving standards and as car enthusiasts, novices will also have access to an abundance of technical expertise for free. To offset against their first race entry novices also receive a £200.00 voucher from the HSCC and compete for their own special award, the Win Percy Trophy which is presented annually at the HSCC Awards Dinner.
